The Road Back To You is my first non-fiction book review. This book is one of the best Enneagram books to date. I have been studying the Enneagram for the last seven years and have been a big fan of Suzanne Stabile. When I found out that she was co-authoring a book, I immediately pre-ordered it and do not regret the investment. If you have any interest in the Enneagram, this is a must read book. Stabile and Cron write with such ease that you will have no trouble understanding each number of the Enneagram.
For those who are not familiar with the Enneagram, it is an ancient personality typing system. It is similar in concept to the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory but much more helpful. Myers-Briggs simply provides participants with a 4 type letter personality description but the Enneagram is based on spiritual transformation and the idea that we can grow to be whole and not just our number. The 9 types or numbers in the Enneagram represent different aspects of God and when they all come together, the face of God is complete. One of the best parts of the Enneagram is that it not only provides the individual with the insight into their own path of transformation, but provides much wisdom in how to relate to different types.
In this Enneagram book each type or number has a section on what it is like to be that number and a section about the path to transformation for that number. In between it talks about that number as a child, in the workplace, in relationships, in security, and in stress. No other Enneagram book puts this information in such understandable terms.
