There are a lot of books being written right now about being brave, so I was a little unsure of this one, not to mention the fact that the covers look like something I would be criticized for reading if caught with it. You see I am loud, opinionated, funny, full of love and way over weight. In other words Melissa Radke wrote the perfect book for me! Wow, does this chick know me or what! I am even from Texas.
Melissa (first name basis because we are friends and I love her) has written an amazing book on the subject of being brave. She is an expert on the subject. The fact that she has written this book, has not chosen to end her life, and would even consider being pushed into having the cover photo taken, proves she is an expert. I laughed, I cried, I super identified, and I learned. I learned that being brave is in reality a good thing – it is not just a good idea. I learned that I am absolutely not the only one who is sick and tired of hearing about what a pretty face I have. I learned that I am not the only one who has consistently had other people be mean to them. I learned that I was right to forgive and that forgetting is a whole other thing.
In short, read the book. You also will laugh, cry and learn something, even if you are not Melissa’s soulmate like I am, or her BFF, like I am. Read it. Pay for it. Put your money where your mouth is and support the movement to be brave. While you are reading it I will be plotting out how to actually meet my new BFF, soulmate and confidant!
Melissa will be at BookPeople in Austin on Saturday!!
