So, let’s talk about a fun read! How about Lisa Lutz’s The Spellman Files? I can not say enough about the fun, quirky and gritty Izzy (Isabel) Spellman the private investigator. Izzy is in her late 20’s and works for her parent’s Investigative Firm. She is not necessarily a law-abiding citizen – not that she is a criminal – but she would rather go in the window of a house than knock on the door. To top it all off, her brother is “perfect” and her younger sister is in need of a healthy, mature role model. Her parents have been investigating too long and have no idea what a boundary is in any area of life.
This is the first book in a series and therefore Izzy’s first real case; up until now, she has been doing mostly office work. Her parents kinda blackmail her by making her take one last job before shes go off on her own. Unfortunately, that case is a cold case of a person gone missing over 15 years ago.
This book definitely puts the fun back into dysfunctional!
If you like mysteries, great characters, and quick fun reads, this is just the book for you!
I really enjoyed this series, thanks for reminding me about it!
