Decanted by Linda Sheehan

This is a delightful story about Samantha, who ups and leaves her successful career to follow her dream of making wine.  She takes her savings and flies to France for an unpaid internship at a vineyard. The experience is life-changing and just the push she needs to move to California and continue pursuing her new career.  Samantha rapidly finds a job in the bottling part of the wine business and her hard work pays off again as she makes connections and learns a different aspect of the business.  Her hard work and good fortune continue when she finds a guest house to rent on the land of a retired vineyard.

Sheehan has written the perfect Napa Valley cozy.  Her characters are easy to connect with and seem like the kind of people you would run into over a lifetime.  The setting of the French countryside and American wine country will leave you imagining yourself sipping wine as the sunsets on the side of a hill.  Samantha is an empowered, intelligent, beautiful woman who is not afraid of work and determined to succeed.  The novel is just in time for pulling up a lawn chair or large beach towel, grabbing a glass of your favorite wine, and sitting in the sun while reading.
