As we struggle with issues concerning the environment and care of the earth, this book could not be more timely. Thoroughly researched and well written, the book explores the various aspects of stress on plants and their attempt to adapt to those stressors. As a non-scientifically trained individual, I was surprised by how easily the knowledge in this book came across and translated into how I work with plants. Upadhyay covers growing crops, plant life cycles, and output as the plants struggle to maintain under changes that include climate and soil. Although the book can read like a textbook, it is not hard to read and offers up a wealth of information for anyone interested in encouraging the continued growth of plants with the challenges we are currently facing. If we do not all become better educated on this topic we will end up in a seriously bad place. This is not just valuable for professionals and researchers, it has insights that can guide any concerned person to better care for the earth’s green stuff.
