The Baker’s Patio written by Ron Kinscherf and illustrated by Holly Brogaard

I am not sure if I have mentioned that I love children’s books and that I taught Preschool for years.  I still buy children’s books that I think are great and love sending them as gifts, so when I come across a children’s author, I think it is important to share!  Kinscherf is a grandfather who has wholly bonded with his grandchildren to the point where he is willing to share the stories he made for them with us.  The first of these is The Baker’s Patio.

The illustrations by Brogaard are bright and colorful, not to mention adorable, and draw the children into the story.  The book is not just a story about some ants that live under a backyard patio but has several fun ant facts mixed into the story.  Queen Antasia and all the many different ants have all kinds of adventures. The Baker’s Patio is definitely the perfect summer read for your toddler through early elementary age children.  I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
